Chalk it up to harvest crazy, but somehow the exact pick date of the 2021 Jane’s Vineyard has escaped us. That mid-September slog where the grapes are relentless. Whichever day it was, we’re excited to try out a little something new with Jane’s Vineyard Sangiovese. The vineyard is a smaller site in Hopland, near the base of Duncan Peak. With an emphasis on biodiversity, the site sites on Talmage soils the area is known for.

For the 21 vintage, the wine was about 25% wholecluster and the rest destemmed. It fermented 12 days before being pressed “slightly sweet” to finish fermenting in a plastic egg. It was then barreled down to age in neutral oak, with no rackings till bottling in August 2022. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
