Aromatic and expressive, this is a quintessential Pinot Noir. Cranberry, red raspberry, and sour cherry jump out of the glass with an exuberant freshness. The palate is balanced and crisp, with elegant tannins from the whole cluster fermentation.

Up above Lakeville Highway in Petaluma is this stunning vineyard farmed by friend David Rothschild. As he converts it to organic, the vineyard is beaming with fauna diversity – bees, birds, and bugs – and true to Petaluma form, the cows, hungrily staring through fence at tasty morsels they can’t reach.

Picked on August 27, I elected to make a 100% whole cluster fermentation with the 667 clone selection. The grapes were foot trodden and let to ferment naturally for 13 days. It was drained to barrel and pressed to barrel, left to mature and age for 10 months in neutral oak.

The wine was racked off the lees just to go to bottle on August 12, 2022 with minimal sulphur, no fining or filtration.
